MISSION

In cooperation with other Diocesan information collections, the Library works to serve the information needs of religious professionals throughout the Diocese of Venice in Florida.  An important part of this mission is to support Rice School students, faculty, and staff by providing supplementary course materials and information resources for their research projects, theses and practicums, and for their ministries.  Further, the Library seeks to serve the entire diocesan church, lay and religious, with materials related to all aspects of the faith, materials for serious study, spiritual development, and ministry. The subjects of church history, Christian morality and social justice teachings, scripture studies, liturgy and sacraments, ministry, church doctrine and ecclesiology, spirituality and faith formation are all part of our collection.

LOCATION

The Library is located on the campus of The Blessed Edmund Rice School for Pastoral Ministry, in the northern Port Charlotte area. From 1-75 take the Kings Hwy. exit, #170; drive north on Kings Highway about 3 miles, then turn right on to SW Peace River Street and proceed .7 mile. Situated next door to the Blessed Edmund Rice Center in a quiet rural area, the Library encourages contemplation and study. You are invited to visit frequently.

We are regularly open everyday from 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM. We are also glad to find materials for you and to answer reference questions received by phone, mail, or e-mail in advance of your coming. We can probably set aside materials for you so that you can come on days and times more convenient for you. We are also glad to arrange an appointment to meet you at the Library. If you come to the Library when no staff are on duty, we do provide some instruction so that you can do basic work on your own.
