REFERENCE BOOKS
When you are seeking the Biblical teachings on a subject, consider using Bible-related reference tools. A few of these sources, located in the Reference area, are The Anchor Bible Dictionary (Ref BS 440 .A54 1992) and The Interpreters Dictionary of the Bible (Ref BS 440 .I63). Both of these sources are multivolume scholarly sources which contain lengthy articles and bibliographies.
For a liturgical emphasis to a topic try The New Dictionary of Sacramental Worship, Ref BV 173 .N485 1990. A few of the articles in this source which might be of interest are: Laity, theology of; Ministry, lay; Ordination rites; Orders, sacrament of.
The New Dictionary of Theology (Ref BR 95 .N38 1993) and Ecclesia; A Theological Encyclopedia of the Church (Ref BX 841 .O36 1996) are two sources for a doctrinal/theological understanding of an idea. Examples of articles in these sources are: Deacons; Laity; Ministry.
Also note that the Sacramentum Mundi; An Encyclopedia of Theology (Ref BR 95 .S25) 6 volumes, includes articles like: Baptism; Confirmation; Deacon; Laity; Orders and ordination; Pastoral ministry; and Priest.
